The Seva Samithi was established with the aim of serving the devotees of Sri Sabarimala Ayyappan. Every year millions of devotees visit the shrine of Sri Sabarimala Ayyappan. The devotees in diksha visiting Sabarimala during Makara Jyothi Festival, cover a distance of 48 kms (32 Miles) called the Pedda Padam, from Eerumeli to Sabarimala, via Kalaikatti, Alludhanadhi, Aluthamedai, Karimala, Sariyanavattam, Periyanavattam and Pamba by foot, carrying the Irumudis on their heads. The devotees cover this long route through thick forest on rough terrain bare foot. After the long walk with Irumudis and darshan of Sri Ayyappa Swamy, the devotees need a comfortable place to rest for a while and food before they embark on their return journey. The present facilities are not adequate. The committee members are devotees of Sri Sabarimala Ayyappan, visited the shrine, between two to twenty times, observed the hardship faced by devotees visiting the shrine for makara jyothi sandarshanam during the month of January every year. The existing facilities are not adequate to meet the requirements of millions of devotees visiting the shrine every year. We established the samithi with the sole aim of serving the devotees by providing the basic amenities for free, construct a 100-room choultry at Sri Ayyappa Swamy Sannidhanam, Sabarimala. Since formation of the samithi, we are performing annadanam in Sabarimala every year without break.
We have been conducting Laksha Kumkumaarchana in Kakinada on a large scale every year thereby providing an opportunity to devotees to pray the lord in a special manner. On the same day of laksharchana, we provide food for around 1000 to 2000 swamys. This helps us in promoting our mission and objectives. We have set up a Pitham for Swamy Ayyappa at our samithi and conducted various poojas and abhishekas.
The local press lauded our efforts in its news item dated 8 January 2008.
We seek your blessings and generous contributions to the yagna, to serve Swamy Ayyappan
